The Delegation holds its first assembly of verification
The Delegation of Kenya “Our Lady of the Rosary” concluded, in two and a half days, the assembly of verification that began on the evening of Sunday 23 February and ran until Wednesday afternoon. All the confreres in perpetual vows in Kenya took part — twenty-four of them. Twenty are Kenyan, while four are missionaries from the United Kingdom, Chile, Ivory Coast and Togo.
Taking stock of a new Delegation
They had time to assess the implementation of the general chapter in the new Delegation, and the planning that had been done when the Delegation was still one of the regions of the larger Delegation “Mother of the Church”. It was also a moment to bring the brothers together, since they work in different parts of the country.
After the opening of the assembly, half a day was given to the materials for the formation forum: Lectio orionina. Then came a particular review focused on several areas: the founding line, identity, communion, mission, the charismatic family, and particular themes concerning the Delegation of Kenya.
During the assembly the Little Missionary Sisters of Charity were invited to share about their collaboration with the fathers, and to assess the life of the Congregation from their own perspective and point of view. A cleric and theology student in temporary vows, a religious on pastoral internship and two postulants were also invited.
On the last day of the assembly a Jesuit priest gave a talk on ongoing formation, on the dynamics of power, money and relationships in Catholic religious life.
In recent times the Congregation in Kenya has recorded enormous growth in the number of new aspirants — from Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Burundi — of new religious and new priests, as well as in communities and charitable works in the region. God bless Kenya.
