Nine novices make their first religious profession
The Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, on 29 June 2026, was a cause of great joy for the Congregation of the Sons of Divine Providence: nine novices made their First Religious Profession at the Formation House community in Nairobi.
The parents and some relatives of the newly professed took part in the celebration, together with numerous confreres from various communities, seminarians and religious men and women of different congregations, all united in prayer and thanksgiving for the gift of these new vocations.
A prophetic witness
In his homily the Delegate Superior of the Delegation “Our Lady of the Rosary”, Fr. Anthony Njenga, invited the young professed to look to Saints Peter and Paul as models of total trust in Divine Providence and of passionate love for Christ and for the Church.
He reminded them that religious life is today a prophetic witness in a world that often looks for security in material goods, for fulfilment in self-interest, and for freedom in individual autonomy.
Reflecting on the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, the celebrant encouraged the newly professed to live their Orionine vocation with missionary spirit, love for the Church and a particular attention to the poor and the abandoned, according to the charism of St. Luigi Orione.
An East African horizon
Of the religious belonging to the Delegation of Kenya, some come from Kenya, others from Uganda and Tanzania, while one belongs to the Delegation of India. This significant international presence shows how the Delegation of Kenya continues to grow beyond its own borders, taking on more and more an authentically East African dimension.
The immediate preparation for profession was accompanied by a six-day spiritual retreat preached by the General Councillor, Fr. Fausto Franceschi, on the theme: Rekindling the grace of vocation by putting Christ at the centre of one’s life and vocation. Present also at the celebration, Fr. Franceschi expressed his joy at seeing the growth of the new Delegations and brought the greeting and closeness of the Superior General, Fr. Tarcisio Vieira.
The formative journey of the novices was accompanied by the Novice Master, Fr. Jeremiah Njoroge, with the collaboration of Fr. Jules Atabre.
With religious profession a new stage of the formative path now opens for the young confreres: the pastoral internship, which will take them to serve in various communities of the Congregation in Kenya, India, Italy, Jordan and Ukraine.
The Congregation of the Sons of Divine Providence accompanies these young religious with prayer and fraternal affection, entrusting their future to the Lord and wishing them to be authentic witnesses of Providence in the world of today.
